Vision
The department focuses on teaching, research, and patient care services through advanced biochemical analysis for diagnosis and prognosis. This initiative will likely have a far -reaching impact on healthcare advancements in the region and scientific advancements in the region. Currently the department is headed by Prof.(Dr.) Rajeev Singh Kushwaha since 2023.
 
Mission
Department's commitment to research in various fields such as clinical biochemistry, molecular biology, Chronomedicine, immunology, Heavy metal toxicity and etc. As far as research is concerned, department is quite committed to start research based on inborn errors in collaboration with other departments.
 
Brief History
The Department of Biochemistry was established in Government Doon Medical College, Dehradun in 2016 by the Uttarakhand Government. In 2024, Department of Biochemistry has organized a state level ACBI conference under the leadership of organizing Secretary Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Singh Kushwaha

In the Biochemistry department, there are 6 faculty rooms, 2 Demonstration room, 1 PG Room, departmental library, Under graduate lab, & post graduation lab are available

1. Organized a State level ACBICON 2024, Uttarakhand in GDMC, Dehradun on dated 17th June 2024 as Organizing Secretary 2. Organized SDL Seminar on “Anemia Mukt Bharat and Iron Metabolism” of MBBS Phase II (2023 Batch) at GDMC, Dehradun in collaboration with Zydus Medical College & Hospital, Dahod, Gujrat on dated 25th September 2024 as Organizing Secretary. 3. Our Hospital Clinical Biochemistry lab (Central Laboratory) in hospital has actively participated in NABL 2024 programme. January 2025 onwards our clinical biochemistry lab be first NABL accredited laboratory in Uttarakhand.
